Sydney, Australia: The Security Exhibition and Conference, run by ASIAL, is THE trade event of the security industry calendar. If you’re a provider of deployed infrastructure for security applications, you’re at the show in some capacity. From technology manufacturers and systems providers, to designers, integrators and wholesalers, it’s the event that brings them together all under one roof.
The 2024 event was no different in format, seeing 1000s of visitors and 100s of exhibitors come together for the three day trade exhibition, held at the ICC in Sydney’s Darling Harbour, 21st-23rd of August.
There was one noticeable difference however, and that was the proliferation of a certain vertical solar pole across the show floor.
This year, PowerStack has presence on not 1, not 2 but 4(!) exhibitor booths at the event, proving that the industry is taking note that an off-grid power source can really bring a new dimension to their offering.
PowerStack teamed up with their distribution partner, Wesco Anixter as well as technology partners, Axis Communications, Bosch and Milesight to showcase the solar pole technology with their brand devices.

PowerStack’s off-grid vertical solar poles are technology agnostic, meaning that they can be paired with a wide range of devices and brands to create solutions for public and critical infrastructure.
This flexibility saw the poles set up to display an emergency help point and info button, strobe siren and dual lens camera on the Axis display, and 4G Traffic sensing camera with radar triggered capture on Milesight’s booth.
Similarly, the pole on the Wesco booth showed how the pole can be used for operational and ambient lighting, using a WE-EF luminaire, and then also for security through an Axis multi-lens camera. Finally the Bosch stand kept it simple and elegant with one of their latest dome cameras, showcasing CCTV and surveillance applications.
The wide range of applications, devices and demo displays is indicative of how well the PowerStack technology has been received by the market.
Technology partners are able to offer a way to make their devices deployable in site locations and areas that don’t have access to traditional electrical infrastructure. For integrators and end users, this means getting eyes and ears on the ground in places they need it without the hassle and cost of grid application, trenching, cabling and heavy machinery hire.
Speaking about the warm reception and extensive coverage at this year’s event, PowerStack CEO Michael Bragg commented,
“It was absolutely fantastic to walk the show floor and see so many PowerStack poles on different stands. It’s truly a representation of how far we’ve come in the security industry in the last 12 months alone. We’re really grateful for the support from our channel and technology partners, and it’s great that our product enables them to offer a whole new way of deploying solutions for their customers.
Aligning ourselves with recognised, credible brands in the security industry is key for us. We’ve designed a system that is powerful enough and can reliably run these devices even in mid-winter sun conditions, so presenting a holistic solution this way to the integrator is a great way to educate them on the benefits of off-grid solar for these kinds of applications.”

PowerStack’s unique modular design and 4 sides of vertical solar panels means it maximises sun capture throughout the day. This enables it to reliably power devices such as cameras, sensors, communications routers and lighting, even in the middle of winter.
Each system is designed for your chosen site location’s vertical sun hours on the winter solstice, so you get enough power on that day when sun hours are lowest, and for every other day across the year. Plus the system has a 5 day backup to combat sustained inclement weather, so even in storms, the PowerStack can continue working.
