Sydney, Australia: Commercial lighting sales and service providers, LiTEsource & Controls, have entered a representation agreement with vertical solar pole manufacturers, PowerStack. The agreement will see LiTEsource recommend and offer the PowerStack product range for solar lighting solutions across Australia.

LiTEsource provides a range of professional services to specifiers, manufacturers and contractors working across commercial lighting design projects. They work with a carefully selected range of products to provide best in class knowledge and design.

PowerStack’s unique, modular solar poles can be integrated with a wide range of different lighting fixtures, including those already offered through LiTEsource. This flexibility creates 100% off-grid lighting solutions for everything from operational and safety lighting to pathway, road and ambient lighting designs.

The partnership will see LiTEsource offer a collection of core PowerStack solar poles, ranging from 1m/3ft bollards, up to 8m systems.

Sustainable, flexible solar lighting solutions

Typically, solar lighting poles come with a lighting fixture already integrated, with no option to choose your luminaire or style. PowerStack however, is fully brand and technology agnostic, providing a flexible solar power source to run a number of different applications. Indeed, the poles can also be used to power devices like security cameras, IoT sensors and counters, mobile device charging stations, and many more electrical applications.

The other form of solar lighting solution is usually a flat angled panel attached to the top of a pole. The drawback of these kinds of installations is that the panel is only capturing sunlight during the peak of the day. This means they’re not practical for lower sun hour regions, and can struggle with power provision during the winter months, when sun hours are lower. Added to this, the panel is fairly vulnerable to weather, animal and vandalism damage. And the aesthetic can be quite impractical.

PowerStack’s 4-sided, vertical panel design means it can maximise sun capture throughout the entire day. Each pole is based on mid-winter sun conditions for the location, resulting in reliable power provision on the ‘lowest sun hours’ day, and therefore on every other day. Plus, the slimline, integrated panels create a polished aesthetic that is both practical and good looking. PowerStack poles also use glassless solar modules, making them shatterproof and highly vandal resistant.

Speaking about the addition of PowerStack to their offering, LiTEsource’s Director, Matt Roworth, commented,

“PowerStack is a really innovative way to deploy solar lighting. The look of the poles, the flexibility to integrate different fixtures and the way it can be designed for different locations….it has everything we were looking for in a solar power solution. Our goal is to work with our customers to get a best-in-class result, and this product will help us do that when there’s a requirement for sustainability in the design, or a need to get power for lighting somewhere without existing electrical supply. We can see it working really well with the Selux range of luminaires we already offer, and are having some great conversations with contractors already. We look forward to working with the PowerStack team to bring the technology into more projects across the Australian market. “

A partnership approach, delivering best in class solar lighting solutions

As the demand for electrical infrastructure grows, the resulting pressure on the traditional grid increases. This, plus the impact of coal-fired power generation on the environment, means more and more projects have a sustainability mandate.

PowerStack is a solution to the challenge of deploying public, commercial and critical infrastructure without adding pressure to existing power supply. By being 100% renewable and grid-independent, it enables lighting deployment in a considered way.

The PowerStack team partners with key channel and distribution teams that approach infrastructure deployment with a similar level of consideration. Speaking about the new agreement, PowerStack’s Steve Davis commented,
