Home » Sustainable outdoor lighting from ELS with PowerStack

New York, USA: Enterprise Lighting Sales (ELS) has given the green light to sustainability, with the addition of PowerStack’s vertical solar poles to their line card. The lighting manufacturer’s representative has signed an agreement with the solar power company to represent their solar energy poles across downstate New York (including NYC and Long Island) and northern New Jersey.
Enterprise Lighting Sales is a long established and highly regarded lighting agent in the greater New York City area, representing over 80 different manufacturers across lighting and controls products. They work across residential and commercial projects, and pride themselves on working with the most innovative products and providing superior service to their clients.
PowerStack solar poles are 100% off-grid power poles that can be integrated with a wide range of 3rd party devices to create sustainably powered infrastructure. The poles, which are brand and technology agnostic, can power everything from operational and ambient lighting fixtures, to security cameras, IoT devices, cell phone charging stations, and more.
With lighting being a key vertical for PowerStack, the agreement with ELS is an important part of the company’s strategy to build its presence in the region. The agreement sees ELS represent PowerStack pole systems that range from 3ft/1m bollards up to 25ft/8m poles to service ELS’s customers with various outdoor lighting needs.

One of PowerStack’s core benefits for rep teams like ELS, is that the pole is simply a power source, so there’s flexibility with the end design. There are other solar poles available in the market, but these typically come with an integrated light fixture that limits design versatility.
When the end user or client has a particular look or lighting function in mind, these ‘locked in’ solar poles aren’t practical. In comparison, PowerStack allows for choice and freedom over the type of light, the run profile and whether the client wishes to run multiple devices off a pole.
Added to this, PowerStack’s modular system means that a pole is designed for each location’s available solar resources. This is calculated for PowerStack products based on mid-winter sun hours, to ensure a reliable energy supply for the designed application, even on the shortest days of the year.
In locations like the Mid-Atlantic region and the coastal northeast of the US, solar resources are more limited than in many parts of the South and West. This typically means a project might require a taller pole than the same application would in Southern Florida, but with PowerStack that is achievable, thanks to modular design and robust solar collection and storage.
Speaking about the addition of PowerStack’s solar poles to their line card for sustainable outdoor lighting solutions, Joe Gallagher, ELS’s VP of Distributor Sales, commented,
“PowerStack is a fantastic addition to our line card because it’s designed with flexibility in mind. We can integrate the power poles with many brands and fixtures that we already know well. And it looks great, too! For our customers, aesthetics, performance, and flexibility are key. We’re eager to boast the benefits of reliability in bad weather, whether during winter months or late summer storms. We’re excited to educate the market about PowerStack and see this deployed as a sustainable and attractive solution for outdoor lighting projects in our territory.”
PowerStack’s system design comes with a power back-up built in, so in the case of extreme inclement weather for up to 5 days, the poles will continue to run. Added to this, the vertical, glassless solar modules are highly vandal resistant compared to traditional flat angle solar and are less susceptible to snow obstruction.
PowerStack’s presence in the market has grown significantly over the past 18 months, due in no small part to relationships like the one with ELS. This route to market enables the PowerStack team to work collaboratively with channel partners and wholesalers to educate the specifiers, integrators and end users about the benefits of off-grid solar.
Solar power has previously been unreliable at times, and for architectural lighting in particular, the bulky flat angled panels often don’t work with the aesthetic requirements of projects. PowerStack is eager to show stakeholders that there is a different way to deploy solar power, at a time when our demand for electrical infrastructure is only growing.

Jeremy Sigmon, COO of PowerStack USA, commented,
“In an increasingly smart and digital world, we require power virtually everywhere. Yet reliable, renewable power is not always where it’s needed – enter PowerStack. It’s great to see shifts towards clean energy and energy efficient technologies. We are driven to show the market that off-grid solar has an important role to play in deploying these energy efficient technologies, such as outdoor lighting with high-efficiency LEDs. We’ve taken what hasn’t worked with solar powered lighting in the past and addressed it head on. PowerStack is designed and built to provide a versatile, reliable, durable, and attractive solution that is flexible enough to deploy in urban and rural environments. We’re proud to be working with ELS as we educate the New York area about the benefits of vertical, off-grid solar. We can’t wait for our first projects together!”
