Austin, Texas: The American division of world-leading, exterior lighting manufacturer, WE-EF, has come on board as PowerStack’s latest technology partner for the US market. The pairing enables WE-EF to offer its sleek AFL100 and VFL500 series luminaires in off-grid, renewably powered solutions for outdoor lighting.
Integrating seamlessly with PowerStack’s vertical solar poles, the WE-EF products draw on the pole’s solar generated DC power supply to create grid-independent lighting choices for parks, streets and pathways, ambient lighting and more.
With its modular nature, PowerStack is highly flexible, meaning there is a pole system to suit most solar ‘zones’ on the US map. The award-winning solar poles start at 3ft/1m bollards, and increase in size up to 8m/25ft poles.
Pole selection is determined by the available sun hours for the chosen location, the power draw of attached devices and the required runtime for those devices. Sun hours for a location are referred to as VPSH or ‘Vertical Peak Sun Hours’.

Each solution is based on the midwinter sun hours for a project’s location, ensuring reliable power supply on the shortest day of the year, and every other day.
Typically the further north a site is from the equator, the lower the sun hours so a pole would require a higher number of panels and batteries compared to the same solution in the more southerly states.
Note: Parts of TX, AZ and NM are equivalent Zone 5 for Vertical Peak Sun Hours, and Zone 0 is split into sub zones.

This partnership builds on a successful track record of real-world implementation. Already, WE-EF products have been successfully implemented with PowerStack poles in installations across PowerStack’s Australian market. From park and street lighting in New South Wales, to ‘green corridor’ lighting to enhance safety and usability in Melbourne, Victoria, PowerStack has been paired with WE-EF luminaires in projects across Australia.
These projects have demonstrated the capability, reliability, and aesthetic appeal of combining world-class lighting with renewable power generation—setting a powerful precedent for future developments in the U.S. market.
