Location: Capilano Honey Manufacturing Facility, QLD
Product: M60-4LP4 powering CCTV and communications
Date/Year: 2025
Project Partners: Capilano Honey, Foxfire Industries, and Sektor

Project: Foxfire Industries approached PowerStack and their channel partner Sektor, to look at a solution to deploy CCTV and communications at a site in QLD. The site in question happened to be a production facility for one of Australia’s most iconic brands, Capilano Honey.
They wanted power supply for a Hanwha panoramic camera (PNM-C9022RV) and a Ubiquiti router. The goal was to set this up in the carpark area, to enhance safety and security for staff and visitors.
Challenge: With no electrical power supply readily available, the Foxfire team needed a solution that didn’t rely on grid power. Trenching this in wasn’t really an option, as it would have meant digging up the existing carpark.
Similarly, as the space was used by visitors and staff, they wanted something sleek. It needed to blend in with the existing landscaping and carpark design. So bulky external components or generators were a no go.
Finally, the end user stipulated that any solution needed to be deployed quickly, and with a minimum of disruption to the use of the carpark.
Solution: Working with channel partner Sektor, and the integration team at Foxfire Industries, PowerStack put together a pole design that would comfortably provide enough electrical power to run the CTTV camera and communications, year-round, without any reliance on grid supply. The off-grid nature of the PowerStack technology meant that the pole could be installed without having to dig up the carpark, or remove user access for long periods of time to perform underground electrical works.
With no cabling or trenching needed, the PowerStack vertical solar pole technology was installed using a concrete-free foundation. This foundation kit is available from PowerStack. The kit is comprised of a steel base and a number of connected micro-piles that are jack-hammered into the ground. The result is like a tree-root system, securing the pole. The PowerStack’s stainless steel hinge base bolts onto the baseplate of the concrete-free foundation. The result is a cost-effective and efficient installation process, with a pole that can be easily winched up and down for maintenance.
A 6m pole with 4 rows of solar PV panels on all 4 sides (M60-4LP4-25LFP) provides 1000% grid-independent electrical supply for the connected devices. With the batteries, control system and panels all integrated into the body of the pole, the finished aesthetic is sleek, and blends easily with surrounding areas.
For the ease of installation, cost-effectiveness over its lifetime, and finished look of the pole, PowerStack was the ideal choice for this project.

PowerStack poles start at 1m bollards and go up to 8m systems. Smaller poles can be hand lifted into position, and with taller systems, PowerStack has developed a specialised winch frame and mechanism that makes installing fast and efficient. Requiring only two people with hand operated tools, poles can be installed in as little as an hour.

We were looking for a solution that would provide power for security infrastructure quickly and efficiently. The client, understandably, wasn’t keen on trenching through the existing carpark, and they wanted something that looked clean. When we saw PowerStack and how good it looked, we knew that was the product for this project.”

PowerStack is essentially a micro-grid. It provides reliable DC electrical power supply, wherever the sun shines. All without needing any grid supply or existing electrical infrastructure in the area.
The modular nature of the system means each pole can be selected for the optimum supply for your chosen location. Each site/project’s location will have its own vertical peak sun hour rating (VPSH). Typically the closer you are to the equator, the higher your VPSH.
We work out the ideal pole you’ll need based on the power requirements of your devices, the runtimes you want those devices working on, and the VPSH of your chosen location. The calculation for this is based on the VPSH for the shortest day of the year, or mid-winter. This ensures that the pole will provide enough power to run that application on that day, and on every day outside that.
So for example, the same pole that would run a camera and router in Northern QLD might require 2 large panels on all 4 sides and 20 batteries, would simply require 4 large panels on all 4 sides and 25 batteries in coastal Victoria.
This modularity, plus the flexibility to integrate with 1000s of third party devices, means with PowerStack, you can power what you want, where you want.

PowerStack vertical solar can be used to power a number of different technologies including security cameras, IoT sensors, lighting, help points and wi-fi networks. Aside from reliable power supply, vertical solar has numerous benefits for both the integrator and the end user. Here are a few of the key features that made PowerStack a standout for this project.
Reliable green energy that enables power supply in areas that grid power can’t reach. Providing 24/7 uptime, totally off-grid.
Rugged, weatherproof design with shatterproof, fire resistant, glassless solar panels.
100% off-grid electrical energy supply, more sustainable than the grid and coal-fired power.
Brand and technology agnostic, giving choice and flexibility to the designer and end user, in function and finished look.
